Batangas Coast Guard nagsanay sa emergency response

Sumailalim ng pagsasanay ang may 40 personnel ng Philippine Coast Guard sa Integrated Planning Course on Incident Command System (ICS) nitong November 26-29 sa training room ng Office of the City Veterinarian and Agricultural Services upang mapalakas ang kakayahan nilang maka responde sa panahon ng kalamidad at emergency.
Ang Incident Command System ay isang sistema ng pangangasiwa na naglalayong magkaroon ng effective at efficient domestic incident management sa pamamagitan ng integration ng kombinasyon ng mga facilities, equipment, personnel, procedures at communications na nag ooperate sa loob ng common organizational structure.
Ayon kay LCDR Geoffrey Espaldon, station commander ng Coast Guard Station sa Batangas, layunin nito na magkaroon ng kaalaman ang mga participants at magamit ang kanilang natutunan sa training na ito sa pagtupad ng kanilang tungkulin at responsibilidad bilang Planning Section Chief at Unit Leaders sa ICS organization. Ang mga units na ito ay kinabibilangan ng Resources, Situation, Documentation at Demobilization.
Ito aniya ay alinsunod sa mandato ng RA 10121 o ang “The Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010”. Isinasaad nito kung paano pangangasiwaan na maiwasan, at mabawasan ang pagkawala ng buhay at ari-arian at ang pinsala sa kapaligiran gayundin ang pagtugon sa mga kalamidad.
Ilan sa mga insidente na nangangailangan ng ICS ay ang mga natural disasters tulad ng bagyo, baha, buhawi, lindol, tsunami at pagputok ng bulkan gayundin ang mga disease outbreaks, search and rescue missions, hazardous materials (HazMat) incidents, terrorist incidents, hostage-taking incidents, recovery operations at iba pa.
Bukod kay Espaldon, nagsilbing resource speaker din sina Jovener Dupilas ng OCD Region IV-A at Fe Fernandez ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office..
Nagpaabot siya ng pasasalamat sa tulong ng mga mamamahayag sa pagpapalaganap ng impormasyon at hiniling niya ang suporta ng mga ito sakaling may sakunang dumating sa lalawigan.
Kasama rin sa mga nagsanay ang ilang tauhan ng Bureau of Fire Protection at CDRRMO. (PIO Batangas City)
