Calumpang Bridge Update MERALCO Rerouting Project
- Details
- Created on Monday, 09 February 2015 - 4:00:00 PM
- Monday, 09 February 2015 - 4:00:00 PM
As per interview from Engr. Rico Sanchez, Officer, Relationship Management and Technical Support, MERALCO, Batangas Branch, this morning, February 6, 2015, the rerouting of subscription lines from Barangay 1 traversing the Calumpang River to Pallocan West side, then to Calumpang River to P. Panganiban St. Barangay 2, has been completed as of 8:00 AM. February 6, 2015.
The rerouting project is upon the request of the Batangas City Government through Engr. Adela B. Hernandez who is in close coordination with the DPWH Region IV-A, for MERALCO to act upon.
The rerouting project as earlier reported by palakatbatangascity, on January 22, 2015, is the major concern of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), before the start of the repair of Calumpang Bridge could be made.
This is because the subscription lines then located at the collapsed bridge should be transferred to a safe location so that the MERALCO subscribers in that area will not be affected (power outages). DPWH and the contractor will use the area located at Barangays 1 and Pallocan West side of the Calumpang River as holding area for the heavy equipment and mobilization work force.
Engr. Sanchez is extending the gratitude of MERALCO to Mayor Eddie B. Dimacuha, to the barangay officials of Barangay 1, 2 and Pallocan West for them to complete the rerouting project very quickly.
It should be recalled that as early as the first week of January, 2015, MERALCO was already preparing the plan and design of this project. Engr. Sanchez emphasized also the great help of private lot owners in Barangay 2 and Pallocan West, who allowed MERALCO to use their lots temporarily for the installation of electric posts until after the repair of the Calumpang Bridge is done.
It is expected that in 7 to 8 months, the said bridge would have been completed. Then MERALCO should have transferred back the subscription lines to its original area in Barangay 1.
