City Engineer Adela Hernandez led the inspection of the Calumpang Footbridge this morning. She has some minor recommendations to be discussed and settled tomorrow by the Calumpang Task Force to ensure the stability of the footbridge and safety of the people before it opens to the public.

The bridge which is a project of the City Government of Batangas has a 2.4 meter- width and 123 meter- length. It can occupy 300 persons at the same time. It has 22 sets of drums with 16 drums per panel as floaters. The panels can be retracted before typhoon to close the bridge for public use and to prevent its destruction. Lights will be installed, so it could be passable and safe even at night. City Government will assign securities and CDRRMO personnel to secure the area 24/7.
