During the Spanish regime in the island, some Spanish boat anchored at the shore of this barrio. The Spaniards that were aboard this boat went down and visited the forest of this barrio. They found an abundant supply of "Pagkit". Several times they went this place to gather "pagkit" with the help of some Filipinos as they were paid for their labor. This Filipinos built their homes in these places and then called them Pagkilatan, which means source of "Pagkit"/ Pagkit is a certain kind of sticky substance used as paste.
