BATANGAS CITY- Dumating sa Batangas City Port noong June 13 ang MV Conrad, ang kaunaunahang container vessel ng Royal Cargo, isang leading global specialized logistics solutions company, upang maging bahagi ng domestic cargo shipping business.

Ang vessel na ito ay may kapasidad na maglayag sa maximum speed na 20 knots, na may deadwight tonnage na 13.751 at maximum container capacity na 1118 twnty-foot equivalent units. Inaasahan din na ang Royal Cargo ay mag-iinvest sa karagdagang vessel upang mapalawak ang coverage nito bago matapos ang taon.

Ayon kay Michael Kurt Raeuber, CEO, Royal Cargo Group, “We are banking on the combined support of government to meet the local market’s growing capacity demands.”

Sa ulat ng Philippine Ports Authority, tumataas ang cargo volumes ng 11.6% mula 223.67m tonnes noong 2015 hanggang 249.57m tonnes noong 2016, bunga ng 12.6% na paglaki ng foreign cargoes na umabot sa 151.6m tonnes. Samantala, ang domestic cargo shipments ay tumaas ng 10% mula 89.05 tonnes hanggang 97.96m tonnes mula 2015-2016.

Dahilan sa nakikitang potential ng Pilipinas na maging major logistics hub sa taong 2020, “RoyalCargo Group is making strategic capital investments to answer demands and spur business and economic growth,” dagdag pa ni Raeuber.
